Brad Taylor is still turning out good, thriller novels with well-crafted, interesting plots. In HUNTER KILLER, the GRS Task Force is dealing with threats to the team at home (Charleston SC) and some nasty election interference in Brazil, as well as the usual bureaucratic interference from DC. This is the usual non-stop action stuff that Taylor writes. The novel presents and interesting twist though. There is a fair amount of discussion among the team members about the level of violence they engage in and its effect on their psyche's and each others. There is some push back aimed at setting some boundaries for the violence, which forces some discussion about how this applies in the kind of undercover work they engage in against vile enemies who have no such boundaries. It definitely seems there is some movement in their thinking towards a reduction in violence whenever possible. Unusual to see this kind of dialogue in thriller novels such as this - and welcome from my point of view.
