In Going Solo, Dahl relates some of his wartime experiences. Like all of his stories, it always feels slightly surreal though as always, when he relates something (shooting at a German bomber for example), he has the gift of making you see exactly that - all without lots of extraneous descriptive prose and in a way that you think: yes it must have been just like that.
