The Soldiers' Story

Vietnam in Their Own Words
Sep 02, 2016ianhakes rated this title 3.5 out of 5 stars
Thoughtful and action-oriented oral histories of some of Vietnam's largest conflicts within the war. Ia Drang, Khe San, Hue and the Tet Offensive of '68, the Air War, the often overlooked naval battles (mostly in the Mekong), and the fall of Saigon. However, this book desperately needs to be edited again. Some of the stories appear to have been copied verbatim from the documentary, making the soldiers' dialogue rambling and meaningless in places. And there are multiple copy errors, including the final WORD of the book, and TWO errors in the pull quote blurbs on the back page. A great book, but with a few minor flaws. Worth a read if you're at all interested in this "police action" in South East Asia.
