During the Second World War 25,000 German officers and other ranks were captured and sent to prisoner-of-war compounds across Canada. Many of these men were the cream of Hitler's fighting troops, and they regarded it as their duty to escape imprisonment to return to Germany to fight again. This book reveals the events of some of those escapes and the ensuing pursuits.

Comment
Add a CommentAn entertaining and exciting account of escapes from prisoner-of-war camps in Canada based on historical records and interviews with both former prisoners and their guards. It includes black and white photographs, an appendix listing the main camps, end notes, and a bibliography (but no index).
