Grandpa Joe sits by the river having tea with his granddaughter. Then out comes a most wonderful tale of his boyhood feats of derring-do.
He paddled down the river in search of a great river giant and along the way he came upon#133;
Huge fish
Fierce pirates
Beautiful mermaids
Wild animals
Friendly Chipewyan
And before he knew it he was having an amazing adventure, culminating in the pirate's ship sailing over a waterfall the size of Niagara Falls. Finally, the river giant appeared and somehow they all end up back having tea with Grandpa Joe and his granddaughter, sitting by the river.
This beautiful, lavishly illustrated picture book by Blair Drawson, one of Canada's most noted graphic artists, perfectly captures the summer-day fantasies of children both old and young.
