Harry witnessed Professor McGonagall walking right past Peeves, who was determinedly loosening a crystal chandelier, and could have sworn he heard her tell the poltergeist out of the corner of her mouth, “it unscrews the other way.”

That's what they should teach us," how girls brains work" it would be more useful than divination anyway!
-Harry
'Dumbledore's Army, Cornelius,' said Dumbledore, still smiling as he waved the list of names before Fudge's face. 'Not Potter's Army. Dumbledore's Army.'
'But--but--'
Understanding blazed suddenly in Fudge's face. He took a horrified step backwards, yelped, and jumped out of the fire again.
"Why do you call Voldemort the Dark Lord? I've only ever heard Death Eaters call him that."

Frightening or Intense Scenes: there may be some scary and/or suspensfull parts where you don't know if Potter will live or die.....pretty good really
Harry Potter is spending another horrible summer with his dreadful Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon when a group of evil spirits called Dementors stage an unexpected attack on Harry and his cousin Dudley. After he uses magic to defend himself and Dudley, an act that later gets Harry expelled from Hogwarts, he is visited by a group of wizards and Madeye Moody and the is whisked off to number 12, Grimmauld Place, London. Number 12 is the home of Harry's godfather, Sirius Black, and the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix. The Order is a group of witches and wizards, led by Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore, dedicated to fighting the evil Lord Voldemort and his followers. The Order is forced to operate in secrecy, outside of the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Magic, which is headed by the dense and corrupt Cornelius Fudge. Fudge refuses to believe that Lord Voldemort has returned. Harry, who witnessed Voldemort's return the previous June and was tortured and nearly murdered by him, is suffering from nightmares about what has happened to him. He is also angry with those he is close to, especially Ron and Hermione. Harry used magic to fight off the dementors, and since underage wizards are not permitted to use their wands outside of school, he must face a disciplinary hearing at the Ministry. With Dumbledore's help, Harry is cleared by the Wizengamot and permitted to return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Note - I am reading the Harry Potter books for the first time. Any expressions or opinions are brought to the table as someone who has little prior knowledge..
J.K. Rowling gets so much right in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix." The suspense and intrigue of Harry and the Department of Mystery keeps the plot moving. The maliciousness of Dolores Umbridge (a perfectly crafted villain in my personal opinion) gives a great character for the reader to love to hate. The stress between Ron, Hermione, and Harry feels real and tangible. The "B" line stories of what the Order of the Phoenix and what they're up to underpins it all so well. Simply put, this is my favorite Potter book so far.
It's not a perfect book, though. Harry's growing teenage angst is grinding all throughout. Given, I'm pretty sure that's the point. But, in some ways, it was pretty hard to root for Harry in this book. What happened between he and Cho felt forced. There were a few other things along the way, but nothing huge.
This is where I stand - As these books become longer and longer, they are harder to get through. "Goblet of Fire" is my case in point (I ranked it 3.5 stars). This book rectifies many of the problems that I had with the previous book. It had constant momentum. It had intrigue that made you want to stick with it.
I'm super glad that I read this through. It gives me a lot of hope for the next one! Onward to "Half-Blood Prince"
Be careful when reading these reviews as many of them were written by children and are littered with spoilers.
i loved this book its really sad when sirius dies
There are some villains that you just can't hate and then there's Umbridge.
HATED UMBRIGE!! Loved how that went behind her back! GO D.A!
Longest book; shortest movie.
The book has some pretty nasty people in it. Because of some certain high inquisitor, along with Mr. He Who Must Not Be Named. My absolute favourite out of the whole series, even though it's very heartbreaking to see Sirius go.
My favourite Harry Potter book of the series.
And I wanted to strangle Umbridge.
This was not my favourite Harry Potter book of the series, but it is still a really good book. I would definitely recommend it.
You MUST read this!!!!!!!!
