This is a closely observed book of sublime beauty! Here, in Boston, McCloskey's "Make Way for Ducklings" soaks up all the attention- and I love it. It's also great. But this book is an evocative masterpiece, an awesome achievement.

Favorite kids book of all time. Beautiful writing as well as illustration, capturing the wonder of a childhood summer in Maine.

This tale of a summer cottage in Penobscot Bay in Maine truly is a tale of wonder. It is a story I have reread many times because of the fond childhood memories it evokes.
