Add a CommentLove how some kids complain about another character in the story and then Stillwater the panda totally ignores them and maneuvers both parties into each other's respective spheres. They end up getting along and helping each other out. Seems like there is a lesson here. Stunning water color illustrations. 9 and 7 year old love this book. Dad maybe loves it more than they do. Dogmatic evangelical types might struggle with this one as it has Buddhist overtones, or at least meditation overtones. The open minded might like it. Totally stellar. Five stars!
Week 18
It is difficult to put into words how amazing Jon J. Muths books about his Zen Panda Still Water are. I own a prequel to this book, so it is nice to see familiar characters. If you are looking for a wholesome picture book that teaches a life lesson then this is for you.
Loved this book.
Good story line and way to introduce conversation on the differences of others and how not to judge and work things out.
Also was good way to introduce Heiku poetry.
Loved reading this with my kids. Opened a very good discussion on how finding common ground changed the kids relationship with their neighbor for the better of all.
So good, I would buy it. Thank you Public Library!
