What a beautiful story. I love it still as an adult.

This is one of my favorite books to read to my 1 year old. Such a sweet allegory for the love that God has for us.

This book made me cry. It was such a beautiful parable about how much God loves each one of us and that we are all very special in His sight. When we try to get approval from people to help us feel good about ourselves we will be on a constant see-saw of either feeling rejected or emotionally "fixed" by their praise. Reminds me of something I heard from a preacher named Casey Doss who said "If you live for their approval, you will die by their rejection." (Not sure if he was the first to say that). However, this beautiful story shows how when you live for God's approval only, neither the hatred and rejection of others or the potential for pride from too much approval can hinder your worth and value.

I really liked the symbolism, and Mr.Lucado did a wonderful job at making this story easy to follow, by making it rather relatable, and very well thought out/explained.

This is the story of the Wemmicks, puppets who live in Wemmicksville, who--especially some of them--enjoy giving out gold stars and grey dots to those they deem worthy. With shades of Suess's "The Sneeches" and also Pinocchio, but without imitating either, this is a fresh classic for kids of all ages. Based on the bestseller by Max Lucado, "You Are Special." This story reminds me of the life of Eric Liddell, who was willing to give up a gold medal for the sake of something higher ("Eric Liddell: Champion of Conviction" animated plus documentary DVD, "Chariots of Fire" movie). It also reminds me of the computer-animated "Larry Boy and the Rumor Weed" (Veggie Tales) because those who give out stars and dots also tend to be "rumor weeds." "You Are Special" tells about human nature and how to deal with it, and where our value comes from.

This is the story of Punchinello, who seems he can do nothing right. Then a stranger comes into his life, and he goes to see Eli, who is rumored to be a scary giant. The book is an easy reader. The DVD based on it is a half-hour tale containing some vital truths for all ages.
