Once again Atkinson delivers a powerful page-turner. Multiple well-developed main characters each maintain their own orbits about the central narrative, and part of the reader's delight is in trying to eke out the subterranean connections…

I liked it. I'd have liked it a lot more if it didn't bounce around so much. One just got into something and was switftly taken away to another POV. Annoying.

So, I read the first book in this series awhile ago and I don't think it was this funny and sort of silly, and I mean that in a good way. A lighter but very well crafted mystery. Lots of coincidences that even our hero admits are hard to…

The many twists and turns befuddled me. I kept reading in hopes it would get better. But it didn't. Not my favorite.

I come to Kate Atkinson's crime novels by way of her amazing novel Life After Life. I love a well-written mystery and am so pleased to finally get into these books. Just the thing for hot summer days in the south: a contemporary UK crime…

Wow! I finished it in three days-a new record. It was such a good read!

It is said that one good turn deserves another; however, in this superbly crafted and beautifully written novel, good Samaritan behaviour results in our hero being robbed, mistakenly identified as a murder victim, and more. His is only one…

3.5 stars Kate Atkinson has a fascinating ability to take traditional crime/mystery themes and turn them into something else entirely – wry observations on relationships, how we see ourselves and how we often are different people…

To my surprise (I had not liked the only other Atkinson I'd read, Life After Life) I enjoyed this novel greatly. Loved the writing, the humor and the ending.

I don't get the love for this one. It was a mess that not even a little twist could save.

As with all of Kate Atkiinson's books, this was one good read! A real page turner, couldn't put it down until I had finished the whole thing! Kate Atkinson is one of my very favorite authors.

Loved the book. A Scottish Coen Brothers - quirky, funny with good pace. Great characters - where does she come up with them all? I liked this one better than Case Histories.

The first chapter was interesting but after that I couldn't keep going.

This story was as complex a mystery as the first in the series, "Case Histories". I was enjoying the way Atkinson was wrapping up all the many threads that composed the intricate tapestry of her book. I got to the last sentence, and the…

I'm not a fan of mysteries in general, but I'm hooked on this series. One of the reviews I read called it "Dickensian" and I couldn't agree more. If Dickens were alive and writing mysteries in the 21st century he might churn out…

My favourite of the Jackson Brody series. I love how all the characters and the plots eventually converged. Great ending.

After reading Case Histories, I was looking forward to this follow-up. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed.

Very engaging and amusing. I got mildly weary of all these somewhat helpless types but the story was great, really well crafted and intriguing. And of course very well written.
